Congratulations to Stephanie Burnside and Kate Pexman who finished third at Beach Nationals. Kate and Steph lost only one match all weekend to the Ontario team that went on to win Gold.

Leah Andries is starting a new beach program this summer for younger players that want to get their feet into some sand for this first time this summer. Her program from June 4 to July 4 is designed for U14 age and it is just as the name says. Lots of Fun 'n Sun. Info HERE. Registration form HERE.

When Ben told me he wanted to start a blog I expected the first one to be about chasing the dream or something like that because I know he has been waiting for this time and thinking about it since the summer of 2003 when he first went to California as a 14 year old novice beach player. He has been getting steadily more into it for the past few years, but this year he begins as a full time beach pro representing Canada internationally. I'm sure it will be an interesting year for all of us to hear about. Nice beach resorts, beautiful beach babes, big money wins?? The Directors of Maximum Beach Volleyball Club have decided to discontinue our Club and try to support beach volleyball in our own separate ways. Our not-for-profit group has enjoyed quite a bit of success with various age groups provincially, and Kathy Tough helped quite a few high performance athletes make it to the National Team level, but there don't seem to be many coaches around willing to devote as much to the next group of Calgary beach athletes. Rather than run a mediocre program, we have decided to close the Maximum program and try to support any coaches that do wish to coach beach athletes.
