Youth - Mini Dome Club
About Mini Dome Club
Updates for Dome Club as of March 2, 2021:
New start dates for Winter Minis has been confirmed for March 14. More information is being sent to participants and those on the waitlists this week (March 1-7).
The latest update for Winter has been sent to participants via email (copy below). Winter groups will essentially become the Spring, however we will most likely be able to add a second round of Minis for May/June, spots will be offered to those on our waitlists for Winter first, with open registration available at the beginning of April.
Those interested in playing who were not already registered for winter should contact to be added to contact/waiting lists for a later Spring program.
The following update for Winter Programs was sent to participants February 10/11:
As many of you heard this past weekend, there have been some changes to the restrictions on youth sports in the province, yay!
That being said, Step 1 allowances still come with a lot of rules that prohibit programs like Dome Club from getting started right away. The most relevant to us is that kids are required to maintain 3m distance even while on court and in drills. This is especially tough with the young ones who don’t have a lot of ball control yet, and means that we could only have 6 kids on a full court with very little interaction. As these programs are all based on at least 12 kids per court, and being able to work in game-like drills at least some of the time, it looks like we will still have to wait for Step 2 before we can resume.
The good news is that Step 2 might only be 3 weeks away, so we can potentially get started the weekend of March 13/14. This is of course reliant on cases and hospitalizations continuing to drop province-wide and a formal AHS announcement that Step 2 is a go. Currently, this is supposed to be announced on February 28th. Assuming everything progresses accordingly, new program details will be sent out the first week of March. Any additional Covid guidelines and safety protocols will be included once we know if and how groups need to be adapted in order to safely begin.
Practice times for the Minis group will still be Fridays 5:15-6:45 & Sundays 2-3:30pm once we begin.
Based on a March start date groups will run through into April, but extend further into May for any make-up days as needed. We anticipate having to start with limitations on gameplay, but will hopefully be able to end with a more tournament like Play Day to finish out the session.
Again, for anyone who wishes to withdraw based on changes, we can still provide refunds of $199 anytime before practices get started.
For February we are able to host one-on-one sessions and small group lessons (6 kids or less). If anyone is interested in this please let me know and I can provide further details and help make arrangements with some of the coaches who are organized to work within the current restrictions.
If anyone has questions please contact us by email at email@example.com as we are currently working from home as much as possible and do not have anyone in the offices during regular hours.
Mini Dome Club will be back once restrictions for group classes are lifted. We are currently looking at early March for the Winter groups, and will offer additional groups for the Spring if we are able. All groups will again be at our GYM location.
Up to date COVID-19 protocols with any other changes for the Dome Club programs will be sent out with program reminders about a week before the programs begin. Previous protocols can be viewed here:
Mini Dome Club
Mini Dome Club was introduced by the Volleydome in 2004 and it became an overnight success with its purpose of teaching kids the skills of the game in a less competitive environment. Each session includes PlayDays with modified games, working towards full game play by the end of the session. Our motto from the beginning has been:
Have Fun, Learn the Skills, Love the Game.
Mini DC is run in the Fall, Winter and Spring. It is an excellent introductory program for young volleyball athletes aspiring to enter junior high school teams or eventually join team programs like Dome Club (Recreational) or Canuck Stuff Club (Competitive).
Players that have already gone through Mini Dome Club (or played the sport on a school team) should look at our Dome Club program instead, which has three longer sessions that run with similar start dates to the Minis.
